Zimbabwe's long-time president Robert Mugabe was forced to resign the presidency in November 2017, following a political intervention by the country's military. Miles Tendi has just returned from Zimbabwe after a month of research field work, in which he attempted to understand the military's motivations and vision for Zimbabwe's political future. Tendi's talk discusses some of the key findings during his research trip. 

Miles Tendi is Associate Professor of African Studies at the University of Oxford. His post is a joint appointment between the African Studies Centre and the Department of Politics and International Relations.
